The planes were launched from six aircraft carriers. These planes included fighters, level and dive bombers, and torpedo bombers. The base was attacked by 353 Japanese aircraft. When the Japanese got to the Philippines they landed on exactly the place predicted by Bywater except, of course, they had already bombed Pearl Harbor. fleet moved its Pacific base from the Philippines to Pearl Harbor.
